The Annual Dinner was
held on June 23, 2010 in recognition of people in recovery, family members, concerned
citizens, providers and state officials working to improve mental health
services.

DMHAS Commissioner
Patricia Rehmer, MSN spoke on "Recovery in Difficult Economic Times" at our
2010 Annual Dinner. Commissioner Rehmer has
attended many of our Annual Dinners before becoming Commissioner. It was
indeed a thrill to welcome her back as Commissioner to speak about this
timely subject.

Patricia Rehmer joined
DMHAS in 1999 and was Deputy Commissioner from 2004 until her appointment as
Commissioner in October 2009. Prior to becoming Commissioner, she led a
range of agency initiatives and managed the state’s inpatient and community
services. She also had responsibility for Young Adult Services and Statewide
Services.

A former chief executive
officer of the Capitol Region Mental Health Center in Hartford, Commissioner
Rehmer also worked for many years at the
Institute of Living in Hartford and Hartford Hospital. She earned
a bachelor’s degree in
nursing from Skidmore College and her master’s degree from St. Joseph
College.
